Purpose A DRG is useful as a source or background layer in a GIS, as a means to perform quality assurance on other digital products, and as a source for the collection and revision of DLG data. DRGs can also be merged with other digital data, e.g. DEMs or DOQs, to produce a hybrid digital file. Supplemental_Information Procedures_Used 1. The original source map was scanned as a TIF file at 300 dots per inch (dpi), and at true color (24 bits). 2. The image was registered to a Lambert Confrmal Conical Projection with the following parameters: Projection Lambert Units Meters Datum NAD27 Spheroid Clarke 1866 1st standard parallel 33 00 0.000 2nd standard parallel 45 00 0.000 central meridian -83 30 0.000 latitude of projection's origin 23 0 0.000 3. The image was converted to a 256 color GIF file and then to a 256 color TIF file using Paint Shop Pro (r) Jasc, Inc. 4. The TIF image was converted to an Arc/Info Grid file and projected to an Albers Equal Area Projection with the following parameters: Projection Albers Units Meters Datum NAD27 Spheroid Clarke 1866 1st standard parallel 29 30 0.000 2nd standard parallel 45 30 0.000 central meridian -83 30 0.000 latitude of projection's origin 23 0 0.000 5. The Grid was then clipped to the state boundary of Georgia. 6. The Grid was converted to a 16 color TIF file with pack-bits compression using the colormap file from step 4. 7.
