Geologic Faults

Description

This database delineates the geologic structures that include faults, inferred faults, microbreccia zones, mylonite zones, and shear zones mapped at a scale of 1:500,000, for the state of Georgia. These structures are depicted on the Geologic Map of Georgia published by the Georgia Geologic Survey in 1976. As part of the reconnaissance mapping during the year 1973, these structures were included with the rock units on the Geologic Map of Georgia. Descriptions of the structures are based on field observations.

This database adds the structures omitted during preparation of Version 1 of the Digital Geologic Map of Georgia. This database is designed to be used in conjunction with Version 2 of the Geologic Map of Georgia.
