Science Olympiad 2002



"From a Distance" training for North Fulton Home Educators Encouragers (NFHEE) and Chamblee Charter High. The teams (12 students total) spent about 2 and a half hours with USGS Center for Spatial Analysis Technologies (CSAT) and the Georgia Tech GIS Center (CGIS) and were accompanied by their coaches/teachers, Ms. Jo Frykman and Ms. Pamela Gilbert-Smith of NFHEE and Chamblee Charter High School, respectively. The subject of their competition entitled, "From a Distance", is the interpretation of maps, and remotely-sensed photos and imagery. The state competition is the last week in March.

"From a Distance" State Finals at Emory University

Jack Alhadeff, USGS, coordinated the state finals in "From a Distance" held on Saturday, March 23, 2002 at Emory University. Approximately 50 students from 28 high school teams participated in this event.
